Ceramic Bridges FAQ's
Cosmetic Dentist serving the Tulsa area
How do ceramic bridges protect teeth?
By closing up gaps in teeth, a false tooth anchored by two crowns can improve your total oral health. Because missing teeth can cause remaining teeth to shift unnaturally, and lead to a dysfunctional bite, a ceramic bridge is recommended to maintain the integrity of your natural teeth and harmony of your bite. Placement of a custom-made ceramic bridge may also prevent the development of TMJ / TMD problems.
What will my crowns be constructed out of?
Your anchoring crowns will most likely be made of durable, natural-looking porcelain material. Your new porcelain crowns can be chosen to match your tooth shade and sculpted to fit your smile. Read more about porcelain crowns.
What can I expect during my bridge appointments?
Dr. Lim will reshape your anchoring teeth in preparation for crown placements. Impressions will be taken to provide the lab with a mold for the restorations. The crowns will be custom-made to fit your specifications, including unique tooth color. You will need to wear a temporary bridge until your placement at your next appointment. When your permanent bridge is ready, it will be strongly cemented in place and adjusted for comfort.
How long will my new bridge last?
Because your bridge is created using the highest quality materials and fine craftsmanship, your bridge should outlast most restorations. Your bridge can last a lifetime with impeccable care and regular cleaning. Avoiding exceptionally hard foods is also a good idea. Dr. Lim will give you specific instructions to extend the life of your ceramic bridge. If your bridge begins to loosen or becomes uncomfortable, contact us right away.
