How is the digital radiography performed?
Dr. Lim’s technician will ask you to hold still, place a lead apron on your chest, and then take a few pictures of your mouth from various angles.
Are there any risks associated with Digital x-ray?
Because we are using small amounts of radiation to take your x-rays, there is some risk involved. However, with Digital Radiography, your exposure to radiation is far less than with traditional forms of x-ray. Our state-of-the-art radiography equipment reduces the amount of exposure that patients receive by up to 90%!
What are the limitations of Digital Radiography?
Although the majority of dental problems can be detected with high-quality digital radiography, there are some conditions that may not surface in x-ray photos. That is why it is important to be honest with Dr. Lim about your medical and family history. Dr. Lim also uses thorough oral exams to detect any underlying problems.
Will I get to see what the oral camera sees?
This is one of the perks of using the high-tech intra oral camera! After the intra oral camera does its job, Dr. Lim will show patients the results so they can see how their tooth or teeth are affected. Using this “video exam” allows patients to see their teeth up close and personal, and identify how serious or pressing the problem may be.
What are the advantages of the intra oral camera?
Patients are allowed to get a dentist’s view of their problematic teeth, including decayed, fractured, cracked, worn, or misshapen teeth. Instead of just taking our word for it, patients can see what is really going on in their mouths, and have a firsthand look at their oral health. The intra oral camera also helps Dr. Lim detect problems that may be too small to be noticed during exams or show up on x-rays.
